Don’t Believe A Word I Say ! Find Out For Yourself

“Don’t believe a word I say! Find out for yourself.”
Very wise words from my very wise teacher Eric Dowsett.
I quote Eric all the time, but do I listen to what I am saying?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I tend to view my teachers with a sense of awe ~ I forget they are people too, just like me and you!

This reminds me of one of my favorite stories – you may have heard this:
A newlywed woman was excited to cook her first ham for her husband.
He watched her prepare the ham for the oven observing she cut off both ends of the ham, then placed the ham in the roasting pan.
Her husband asked “why did you cut off the ends?
Wife replied, “that’s how my Mom always did it.”
So they called her Mom, Mom said “that’s how my Mom always did it.”
Next they called Grandma, and
Grandma said “because my pan was too small for the ham!”

A perfect story to remind us to find out for ourselves.

I do my research for the most part, but this is something I didn’t fact check.
I understood that “Mala Beads” or “Prayer Beads” had the same number of beads as “Catholic Rosary Beads.”
Well that is not the case as one of my students recently pointed out.

My research findings:
Mala Beads have 108, 27 4 times with a spacer between each 27 and large “guru bead” at the bottom with a tassel.
Mala Beads are used to count “Mantras” in “Japa Meditation” (Reciting Meditation)
“Rosary Beads” have 59 beads made of in sets of ten Hail Mary’s” called “decades’. The “Hail Mary” is said on the ten beads within a decade, while the “Lord’s Prayer” is said on the large bead before each decade and followed by 1 “Glory Be”.
Both Mala Beads and Rosary Beads serve the same purpose, a method to count the words of the mantras or prayers said.

Interesting findings, but most of a reminder to do your own research.
Follow up and find out what is right for you.. Don’t believe a word I say!

“Tra La La I Gaily Sing Because It’s Spring, Because It’s Spring!” Random Thoughts – Or Are They?

“Tra La La I Gaily Sing Because It’s Spring, Because It’s Spring!”

This was the line I had in my 3rd grade school play – my very first time on stage. I can recall the excitement of saying those words as I carried my basket of plastic flowers, skipping along, so proud in my new dress.
I was so happy my Mom bought me the perfect dress- sleeveless, tiny blue and white checks, with a fold over boat neckline and 3 rows of ruffles on the bottom!

How did she find such a perfect dress? I was on top of the world.

As I enjoy this memory, I wonder how it is possible to recall every moment?
I do not have any photos, I never wrote it down, it just seemed to appear.

What triggered this memory?
Could it be that spring was officially a day away?

How often do random thoughts pop into our mind, along with feelings, emotions and all that comes along?
How often do we realize the significance of these random thoughts and connect the feelings that come along with them?

We may not pay any attention at all to those thoughts or recognize the connection.
We may decide that feeling we are claiming is what we are – when in fact it could be a memory triggered by a sound, a scent, a song, a color, a situation that feels so familiar.

How about this?
The next time you get a random thought, pause, notice how it feels and what memory comes to mind.

Some we may love, some not so much, but whatever message we receive is an opportunity to embrace all of who we are and have the potential to be.

Embrace the joy, heal the hurt.

First, we must notice, then the journey begins.

I would love to hear your random thoughts.

IT’S NOT MINE! TOOLS FOR MANAGING STRESS IN DAILY LIFE

“It’s Not Mine!”
Uh-Oh- I notice a feeling – all of a sudden, it’s the feeling of impatience – but wait a moment, I am having a great day, where did this come from? It must be information my body is noticing.
Any feeling we have ever experienced is a vibration our body remembers.
We are human tuning forks, so it makes sense when we are in a remembered vibration we are triggered, those are the subtle signals.

How about when we are in the midst of a discussion and the other person is emotional, or we are next to someone who is afraid – vibrating terror – yep – we connect with those too.

This happened to me, although I didn’t know it at the time. Sitting next to my 5-year-old sister in a blackout, with just a flashlight between us, she began to cry. So, her 9-year-old big sister, me- started crying too.
Before I knew it we were both wailing in terror! My dad came running in “what’s wrong?” All I could do was sob “I don’t know” I recall I was feeling really scared. I now know my sisters fear triggered mine,

We have the ability to change emotional patterns in our life.
We can learn to manage the stress we are bombarded with in our daily lives.
The first step is changing our relationship to these charges of energy we feel which show up as emotions, triggered by events, others, scents or even sounds. I am sure we have all experienced walking into a room and noticing it feels a bit chilly, as if an argument had just taken place, or sense that something just doesn’t feel right.

Our bodies respond to information based on what it knows, for instance – if we feel the emotion of impatience, our body will recall chemicals flooding throughout our body supporting that feeling. The more we confirm the feeling of impatience – the stronger the support becomes.
We then decide that we are impatient.

That is our reaction.

We do this all day long, unaware it may not even be our experience, but someone else’s.
Our reaction has us believe that We Are that feeling, impatience, we then begin to “judge” how we are feeling, which only strengthens the impatience, creating distraction.

This reaction happens in an instant.

As we change our experience noticing and responding to these feelings, we become aware.
We have the ability to use new tools to begin moving from “reacting” to “responding”

Here are a few tips to get you started:
First: Notice the feeling that arises and how your body is responding – do not judge it, become aware that this is just information, it is not who you are, it doesn’t define you, you are not that feeling.
Acknowledge you have felt this feeling before, and you will feel it again in your lifetime. Notice, this is just how your body responds to this particular information. Take 2 deep breaths.

Second: Redirect your thoughts: Replace the thought with something positive: such as:
This feels like frustration, but I am not frustrated, my body is responding to this situation based on its familiar reaction. Now that this is done, I feel relieved, clear and grounded, all of those distractions from this situation are gone. I am focused, I feel positive, I am refreshed, and I am grounded and clear.

Do Not Judge Yourself, Be Gentle With Yourself… As we practice noticing these feelings little by little, we can begin to reduce the intensity of the feeling and shorten the duration of the experience, little by little, breath by breath. We soon find that we can notice these feelings without becoming distracted or overwhelmed. We enjoy our new relationship with all of our feelings through awareness. Life best enjoyed as we are participating and experiencing.

“A Shoe-In or A Shoe-Off! That is the question! A Guide to Awareness
“A Shoe In ~ Or A Shoe Off? That Is The Question”

A Shoe-In or A Shoe-Off! That is the question!

I am sure you have your unique patterns, actions that are automatic, things you do without thinking, day after day, month after month, year after year…

The more you do it, the stronger it becomes.
It happens without a conscious thought.

I’ll share one of my “automatic patterns” ~ I don’t wear “outside shoes” inside my home.
The first thing I do when I come inside is take off my shoes.
I have my slippers waiting, and sometimes just walk barefoot.
For my guests I have a basket of assorted clean and cozy slippers.
The other day, wearing my special “inside” purple slippers, I stepped outside the front door for a moment, a few minutes later, I noticed I was bare-footed!
Without even thinking, because I had stepped outside, when I came in I took off my “shoes.”

We create these automatic patterns all the time.
Think about the things you do, the thoughts you have, the things you say,  without a conscious awareness.

If you created it ~ you can change it!

In the meantime, begin noticing your automatic patterns !
Are they a shoe-in for what you desire?
Or is it time to take the shoe off!!
If you are interested in taking that “outdated shoe off” and replacing it with a “new shoe on ” you can join me at one of my guided clearing meditation classes, my personal clearing class or experience a past life regression.

Oh yes… I did wear my slippers out to Dunkin Donuts one day ~ another moment being lost in the thoughts

Pause, Breathe, and Now What?
Pause, Breathe, Play.
Sometimes the stage is set for us.
What can we do when circumstances are out of our control?
Go with the flow? Let it go?
Hmmm..  sometimes we do resist.  and that famous saying is “what we resist persists”
When we are stressed and someone says “Relax” – do we?
I don’t!
It has to come from within, it has to be our choice.
Create a new model.
Decide to Pause, when needed or when that is the best choice.
Choice. Decide to Choose.
How Do We Begin?

Our bodies respond to information based on what it knows, for instance – if we feel the emotion of anxiety, our body will recall the chemicals that support that feeling, the more we confirm the feeling of anxiety – the stronger the support becomes.  Now we are going to begin to change our relationship to how we notice and respond to these feeling. We move from “reaction” to “responding”

We feel the effects of charges of information we pick up all the time, as we “react” to a thought, it connects with our emotions, our body has a memory of how it reacts to these feelings, chemicals which support that feeling are sent rushing through our body, this our typical “reaction.” We then believe that We Are that feeling, we are frustrated, or we are angry, and then we begin to “judge” ourselves & how we are feeling, which only strengthens these feelings, creating distraction,

We begin, becoming aware, we pay attention and notice when we begin to feel a strong emotion – before we “react” and decide we are angry, upset, distracted by these “negative thoughts”, begin to redirect ourselves.

First: Notice the feeling that arises and how your body is responding – do not judge it, become aware that this is just information, it is not who you are, it doesn’t define you, you are not that feeling.

Acknowledge you have felt this feeling before, and will feel it again in your lifetime, but it is not who you are, it will not overwhelm you,

Second: Redirect your thoughts: Replace the thought supporting that feeling with something positive: such as: This feeling dealing with “x” feels like frustration, but I am not frustrated, that was just information as to how my body was responding to this situation, now that this is done, I feel relieved, clear and grounded, all of those distractions from this situation are gone. I am focused, I feel positive, I am refreshed, I am abundant.

We can create the state we can choose to become.
We practice our new power and state of being.
Practice Choosing.
Practice Being.

I just love connecting with the gift of the Universe. Each year there are auspicious locations which support us in our life journey. For those of us who create vision boards, they become very powerful if we place them in these areas of bonus energy.
These are my picks for the best locations to place your vision board in 2015.

North: 2015 Abundant Prosperity The North is the #1 auspicious area for this year. Energize this area by spending time here. If the front door is in the North be sure to use it even if you enter through another door, make a point to use it. Open the windows let the fresh air circulate to activate this abundance. By placing your vision board here, your connect to power of abundant potential in your life journey.

East: This area is naturally auspicious in 2015 as we have the career energy enhancing this are. When you spend time in this area, feel prosperity flourishing. Place your vision board in the east reflecting both professional and personal goals for 2015.

Feng Shui and Fabulous for Abundant Living Tip # 2

Remember, as we said last week, what we see is what we become, this week Tip # 2 talks about how our “stuff” can make us “feel”

  1. 1.      Love It or Lose It: If an item no longer serves a valuable purpose, let it go. When we hang on to things we do not love, we carry the energy of that item. This “stuff” saps up our valuable energy that we need to create and pursue new opportunities and distracts us from enjoying and embracing our glorious moments.

This also relates to what is going on in our cars, look at what you are driving around with .Our cars represent our ability to move forward. You wouldn’t want to feel like you are dragging this around or would you?

12.12.12 “You’ve Got A Friend”

Music makes my heart sing ~ how about you? What makes your heart sing? As most of you may be familiar with by now, sometimes I get a song in my mind.. that leads me to a theme for my weekly words, or maybe it is a thought or phrase that conjures up a song in my mind… I begin to sing a sentence or two.. usually something silly, and it brings me inspiration. My heart begins to sing.
Music can take us to places, experiences, moments we have felt before.. it can be so real, as if we are there right now. I can sometimes smell it, sense it, feel as though I am transported back in time. The coolest experiences are the ones that go way back!
Well there is something about James Taylor, Sweet Baby James… ahhh Junior High – Andries Hudde in Brooklyn, my friends and I would sing all the time, in the halls at school, at lunchtime we would find a place to sit and sing (on benches in the backyard of a nearby apartment building) – or just sing walking through the streets. These past few days, as thoughts and conversations have taken place, I realize how blessed I am to have such beautiful friends in my life. Friends I see all the time, Friends I speak to on occasion, and Friends who are but a sweet memory. Each and every one is someone special in my heart, and I know, if I ever needed one of them, they would be there, and I hope they feel the same for me. One of the most difficult things I have found in my life, a pattern that I created long ago, is to ask for help. I have been learning to change that pattern over the last 10 years. It is not always something I am comfortable with, receiving, but oh does it feel good knowing, I can reach out and I’ve got a friend. I want ALL my friends, new, old and yet to be, to know, that you have got a friend in me. Sometimes just knowing adds a sense of comfort and security, then all we need to do is just be.
12.12.12 is going to be a powerful day… let’s support each other at 12 noon with our positive energy, compassion and love… There is still time to join the tele-meditation – but whether you can join the meditation or not, take a moment to breathe and connect.. It Will Make A Difference!
You’ve Got A Friend ~
