raising your levels of consciousness

Navigating The Stages Consciousness by Lois Kramer-Perez, C.Ht.

I’m so used to taking my shoes off when I come into the house that one day, wearing my slippers, I went outside to check the mail and then I took my slippers off before I came inside, as if I was wearing shoes! It seemed funny that I was so imprinted with the action: enter house – shoes come off. This was so ingrained in how I did things without even thinking about it, that it brought to mind how many things do we do automatically?  How many times do we respond to others automatically without being aware of what we are saying?

When I began this journey, I began noticing how people would acknowledge each other walking through a hallway. I worked in a corporate setting, there were always people passing each other the hallways throughout the day, greeting each other with “Hi, how are you? Hi, how are you?” People would say “Hi, how are you?”, and the response would be: “Hi how are you?”
No one paused to say “Great!” or “Eh!”, The automatic response conversation was: “Hi, how are you? Hi, how are you?”

And I am sure you have experienced this:  stuff happens, and we automatically growl “GRRRRrrr!” or say: “I’m so stupid!”, “ugh! I can’t believe this” or old phrases that we have that are outdated.

This happens. And then there are the times that your routine is disrupted! Every day you get in your car, turn left and get onto Rt 17 North. Then one day, you realize, after you have been driving on Rt 17 North for a minute – yikes –how did I get here – I am going somewhere else today!

It’s as if you were in a trance.

Once you “wake-up” you realize, some of these patterns are keeping you from being present. When you notice you have done something unconsciously, that is the time to begin your shift. This happens in stages.
You become conscious of something and don’t do anything about it.
The next time you notice, you’re a little more aware.

Finally, you think about doing something and choose to do it differently.
Now you are creating a new pattern to be more present.
Your path to consciousness happens in stages.

My “Pal Al” Einstein said: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.

You are always in a place where you are supposed to be. When you are ready for awareness it comes up to bite you to catch your attention.

Here is a simple way to look at the concept of consciousness.

1.” Unconsciously Incompetent”, you don’t know what you don’t know. Ignorance.
Example: You are a child, and for the first time you see people driving cars. Wow! Look at that! Something I have never seen before.

  1. Consciously Incompetent”: You are aware of something you want to know, something you want to change. Desire.
Example: You are older, and you are curious, you are aware that you do not know how to drive a car.
  2. Consciously Competent”: You are taking conscious actions to change your state. Example: You are 16 years old and can get your drivers permit. You take driving lessons. Each time you get in the car, you take time to get acclimated, put on your seat belt, start the engine, focus on placing your hands on the wheel, check the mirrors, take a deep breath, and begin to drive. Each action is thoughtful.
  3. 4. “Unconsciously Competent”: You Just Know! It Becomes Second Nature. Knowing. Example: You get in the car and drive.

These are the four stages of becoming aware.
This is happening all the time. It is how we navigate through everything.

We all have our own, unique timetable for our journey and wherever we are is where we are supposed to be.
And if we do look back and say “Wow, if I would have known what I know now, I could have, blah blah blah.”
No! You were not supposed to know anything except where you were at that time. How can you be expected to know what you don’t know?  You were in stage 1: Unconsciously Incompetent..
You’re meant to do the best you can with where you are at the moment. Honor yourself as you go through your journey, one step, one chapter, one stage at a time.
Celebrate each stage of awareness. You will begin to see that where you are right now, may not have fit too well into your life 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 1 year ago or 1 week ago.
Where you are now is what’s important. How you are relating to what’s happening around you right now is important. This helps you to keep moving forward.

As you evolve, you begin to see things through a different lens. Somethings you may have seen one way, all of a sudden change – it’s as if one morning, you open your eyes and notice wow – now I get it!

Embrace the moment where you are. Get excited when you realize you find yourself in
stage 1: Unconsciously Incompetent – because you know the best is yet to come.

Explore replacing expectation with fascination.

Don’t Believe A Word I Say ! Find Out For Yourself

“Don’t believe a word I say! Find out for yourself.”
Very wise words from my very wise teacher Eric Dowsett.
I quote Eric all the time, but do I listen to what I am saying?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I tend to view my teachers with a sense of awe ~ I forget they are people too, just like me and you!

This reminds me of one of my favorite stories – you may have heard this:
A newlywed woman was excited to cook her first ham for her husband.
He watched her prepare the ham for the oven observing she cut off both ends of the ham, then placed the ham in the roasting pan.
Her husband asked “why did you cut off the ends?
Wife replied, “that’s how my Mom always did it.”
So they called her Mom, Mom said “that’s how my Mom always did it.”
Next they called Grandma, and
Grandma said “because my pan was too small for the ham!”

A perfect story to remind us to find out for ourselves.

I do my research for the most part, but this is something I didn’t fact check.
I understood that “Mala Beads” or “Prayer Beads” had the same number of beads as “Catholic Rosary Beads.”
Well that is not the case as one of my students recently pointed out.

My research findings:
Mala Beads have 108, 27 4 times with a spacer between each 27 and large “guru bead” at the bottom with a tassel.
Mala Beads are used to count “Mantras” in “Japa Meditation” (Reciting Meditation)
“Rosary Beads” have 59 beads made of in sets of ten Hail Mary’s” called “decades’. The “Hail Mary” is said on the ten beads within a decade, while the “Lord’s Prayer” is said on the large bead before each decade and followed by 1 “Glory Be”.
Both Mala Beads and Rosary Beads serve the same purpose, a method to count the words of the mantras or prayers said.

Interesting findings, but most of a reminder to do your own research.
Follow up and find out what is right for you.. Don’t believe a word I say!

“Tra La La I Gaily Sing Because It’s Spring, Because It’s Spring!” Random Thoughts – Or Are They?

“Tra La La I Gaily Sing Because It’s Spring, Because It’s Spring!”

This was the line I had in my 3rd grade school play – my very first time on stage. I can recall the excitement of saying those words as I carried my basket of plastic flowers, skipping along, so proud in my new dress.
I was so happy my Mom bought me the perfect dress- sleeveless, tiny blue and white checks, with a fold over boat neckline and 3 rows of ruffles on the bottom!

How did she find such a perfect dress? I was on top of the world.

As I enjoy this memory, I wonder how it is possible to recall every moment?
I do not have any photos, I never wrote it down, it just seemed to appear.

What triggered this memory?
Could it be that spring was officially a day away?

How often do random thoughts pop into our mind, along with feelings, emotions and all that comes along?
How often do we realize the significance of these random thoughts and connect the feelings that come along with them?

We may not pay any attention at all to those thoughts or recognize the connection.
We may decide that feeling we are claiming is what we are – when in fact it could be a memory triggered by a sound, a scent, a song, a color, a situation that feels so familiar.

How about this?
The next time you get a random thought, pause, notice how it feels and what memory comes to mind.

Some we may love, some not so much, but whatever message we receive is an opportunity to embrace all of who we are and have the potential to be.

Embrace the joy, heal the hurt.

First, we must notice, then the journey begins.

I would love to hear your random thoughts.

Sunshine and the Rainy Day Jar

Its a beautiful day to capture the sunshine in my “rainy day jar”.  I don’t know about you, but when there are too many long grey days, I find my chi (energy) evaporating. I created this “rainy day jar” to lift my chi with laughter sunshine sparkle and all things that activate happy!

The sun has come out after many grey days, so I wanted to honor my inner light and charge up this jar with sunshine and crystal chi.

Today I added some sparkling faceted crystals and amazing amethyst

to my shells, gumby and rainbow troll.

I am reminded on this glorious sunny days to pay attention to all things which lift me.

As I find these things along the way, I add them to the jar to brighten my day.

Here is my guide to create your own “Rainy Day Jar”

Find a glass jar or bowl which you love. I have been scouring antique shops for crystal candy dishes.

Look around and see what you have that lifts you up:
Sea shells, sand, crystals, photos of people, places or things.
You can think of this as a “vision jar” by placing your dreams in the jar.
Cotton balls for fluffy clouds, cut out a smiling sun
Words of Inspiration
Use your imagination.

Place the items in the jar, smiling and feeling the uplifting joy as you do.
Remember a story connected with each item as you touch it.
Experience your feelings with joy.

Place the jar where you can see it everyday, reminding you of the joy in your life.
Inspiring you to add more joy to the jar as you feel it.

Now that’s Fabulous Feng Shui!

I would love to hear your inspirations for your “Rainy Day Jar”

Dowsing

How Dowsing in Your Space Can Rack Up Revenues

I recently wrote an article about how dowsing can increase revenuesAccelerate for Debra Angilletta‘s new magazine Accelerate:  A Magazine for Entrepreneurs on the Fast Track to Profits.

Oh Vey, Feng Shui!

The roadblocks in our business that we can clearly see are not necessarily what is holding us back.

For some of us, we are affected more by what we can’t see. It’s about what we feel. All appears clear and in order on the outside, but on the inside, we still feel uneasy. That feeling of uneasiness speaks to the laws of Feng Shui. It’s a system of laws that focus on how you arrange your space in relation to the flow of energy and the results you receive.

Feng Shui “speaks” in metaphors. What  is happening in your space is a reflection of what is happening in your life. Those principles take into account the places where we you physically store your things as a reflection of the thoughts stored in your mind – or your subconscious space.

We’ve all had that feeling when entering a room or a space, that something just was not right. How many of us actually take the time to stop, notice, and become aware?

Here is your first success key – without awareness, there cannot be change.

I have found most people’s perceptions regarding Feng Shui relates to where you place your desk, files, or chair. Maybe it’s all about the color or décor. They presume there are just one or two choices. That’s it.

Whoa, it is so much more!

It is that moment we say, “Oy vey, I just can’t take this anymore!”

Here is your first SUCCESS key: Without awareness there cannot be change.

Take a moment; what is your “Oy vey?”

Does it feel like new clients aren’t coming through the door?

Do you feel stuck in the mud, and can’t seem to move forward?

Are files and papers piling up all around you?

Does everything look perfect, clean, clear, and appealing? But, you know something just doesn’t feel right?

Bingo…That’s awareness!

Let’s take an example of how this affects realtors: You have a listing on the market that just won’t sell. You have diligently worked with the client… cleaning, purging, painting, staging – it looks fabulous. The price is right. The location perfect! All properties in the area are moving; but, this one property – nothing. “Oy Vey!” you say.

The realtor did everything right, by painting and  staging. But, there is something in the way of the desired outcome of the sale. Think about it this way – all of those efforts are like putting fresh flowers in dirty water.

Time to call in Feng Shui.

The ultimate Feng Shui process includes a practice called “dowsing” – the time tested tool for accessing information in our environment. Very scientifically, it accesses the information beyond the physical.

First, we use dowsing to identify the energy of our environment that we can feel. Just like on a cold, blustery day, you can feel the wind as you step outside. We do not see it. But, we know it is there.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have energy that we may identify in our physical space. It comes in the shape of the objects that direct our movement and flow. Is a chair blocking your direct path to something you access every day?

Together these energies create our experience, each just as important as the other.

Dowsing provides information without judgement. We ask to find the information creating the disturbance. The disturbance would be isolated based on the issue. In this case for the realtor, it would be preventing the sale of the property.

The desired outcome is to sell the house, which is reached by releasing stress and clearing the energy.

Whether preparing a property for sale or moving clients into a new home, it’s important to clear the energy of any stress or leftover residue from prior occupants.

This can also be said of clearing the residual energy of the builders and landscapers!

Everyone involved in that home leaves their imprint, or their “scent” so to speak.

Dowsing may be just part of the prescription to clear the roadblocks to your desired outcome.

Once the fog has lifted, you feel like a million bucks – and have the potential to earn that as a realtor!

Feng Shui resources use tools, such as dowsing, to create the right prescription to integrate the seen with the unseen. The most important part of this equation is YOU!

Here’s a favorite Feng Shui tip that will get you on your way to solving your “Oy Vey!”

“Fabulous Firsts”

Be aware of the first thing you see when you awaken each morning. Or, the first thing you see as you enter your office, or sit at your desk, or in your favorite chair. Use these first images to fill you up with feelings support.

We are made up of many different thoughts and feelings, all of which are on-call 24/7. They guide us to keep us safe, to make decisions, and to direct us to our desired outcome.

Use these “firsts” to create supportive feelings. Now, start to observe when those feelings aren’t so nurturing. When do you find yourself getting irked, annoyed or frustrated?

For example, take notice of your experience when you enter your office. Is it easy? Is it a struggle? Is it effortless to get to the door? Does the door open easily or does it stick?

Dowsing Yields Powerful Results

How does the first thing we see make us feel? These are all of the “imprints” we are creating day after day. But, here is how it’s affecting us in a bigger way. Back to our example of the office door that sticks. Since your mind anticipates that is going to happen, even before you start your trek to your office, you feel the tension in your neck starting to build, and soon your back hurts, and your mood turns sour. Why? Because your body knows it’s about to go into war with that office door again.

Can you see how powerful noticing these “firsts” are and how you can remedy your roadblocks? It is in your best interests to set your stage, to create your best-intention imprints. It’s easy.

Begin by noticing how you feel during one of your fabulous firsts – if the feeling does not serve you, take a moment to decide what one thing you can do to change it? In this case, a good handyman! Begin with just one thing, then move on to notice the next. Small steps yield powerful results. Ready for more tips? Mercury, Metal, You and Me ~ Look UP – We Are Perfect Together

Welcome Autumn, as we transition into Autumn September 22, Mercury goes direct. What does this mean? These past few weeks, living in the energy of Mercury in Retrograde, we may have felt; a sense of moving backwards, unfinished business, issues from the past coming forward in the present. There may have been mix-ups, miscommunication, misdirection. Some have expressed feeling felt lost, feeling down, or the sense of those feelings around us.

Good news! As we say goodbye to retrograde.. we say hello to Autumn. We move into the crisp clear energy of metal, focus, vision and completion. Step into this energy of Autumn, as our vision becomes clear, we are living in high definition.

More good news.. we are in this together. We are here to lift each other up. All we need to do is look up.

When we focus our attention up ~ so does our energy rise.. When we are down, find someone who is looking up, and stand beside them. Smile, and pass that smile on to another. We are all in this together, together we raise each other up…

 “We are what we think,
All that we are arises in our thoughts,
With our thought we make our world” The Buddha

It is a common thread from science to spirituality that our thoughts and feelings are so powerful that we can manifest our hearts desires. In order to make our desires manifest and be sustainable, we need to activate all senses as we rehearse our desired future.

How we direct our thoughts is the key. Let us begin by aligning with the seasons.

Moving into the season of autumn- a contracting energy of completion, a time of vision and focus – it is the perfect time to create our visions to rehearse our future. We begin connecting to our subconscious redirecting our thoughts. We can choose how we respond to what we feel; we can choose how we respond to what we notice.

First we become aware.

Second we notice.

Third we choose.

We may not control all of the things that happen in our life, but we do control how we choose to respond.  Let’s move from reacting to responding. Embrace the energy of this time of focus and vision. Connect to the clarity of mind this autumn season offers.

Our vision is clear; we are aware without distraction, notice what we feel.
Take a breath, notice the feeling, redirect a feeling of chaos or distraction to a feeling of focus, peace and calm. Here is a simple method to begin, practice focusing on your breath.

Take deep a breath in through your nose; follow your breath as it comes into your body, as it fills up your chest, your abdomen. Feel your body expanding. Smile.

As you exhale through your mouth, follow your breath as if leaves your body, relaxing into yourself, releasing. Smile.

Notice how you feel at that moment. This is just the beginning.
