Ready for transformation? All that you need is right there before you. Remember on SNL the skit where the “suave playboy” character would say something like “It is better to look good than to feel good”? Well as silly as it may sound, we can transform our inner essence by purposefully creating and aligning with our outer essence.

What we wear definitely affects how we show up in the world.  For example, when we want to disappear, we dress to blend into the background which in turn pulls our energy inward, hence; we become invisible. What if we want to change that decision? What if we are tired of being invisible but are not comfortable stepping into the center of the spotlight, is there a happy medium?

We can turn to Mother Nature, my mentor – in all her divine wisdom she is always giving us guidance, all we need to do is look around. The 5 elements in Nature are speaking to us all the time, these elements in our physical environment are also in our person, a very important part of who we are, our inner voice of expression, the core of our inner essence.  Let’s take a look how we can tap into these elements to put some cha cha into our chi!

Spring has sprung, we are surrounded by lush green and the blooming of May flowers!

We are optimistic, feeling renewed and refreshed after a long winter. We are feeling “sporty” “adventurous” ready to go go go. This is the element of“Tree.” Tree is the element that actually has a life of its own. Colors of bright greens and florals reflect this springtime energy. Vertical patterns, ribs, columnar and of course natural fibers. Always practical, this element will choose the right athletic gear when going out on a hike, a run or to the gym. No skimping on style or performance, it has to be right to ensure the best results!

Can’t seem to get moving, take a break and go outside, breathe in a fresh spring day and embrace this vibrant energy the Trees are offering!

Feeling a bit bored? Rigid? Serious? Add a little “Fire” to your life! Fire is transformational, the one element which takes the tree and creates ash to nourish the earth. Fun, eclectic and dramatic style will soften up any serious mood. Douse yourself in the brilliance of reds, yellows, orange and fuchsias. Angular shapes, whimsical details, such as feathers, sequins, animal prints, whether separate or combined create fun with an unexpected eclectic statement. Follow your curiosity, get inspired and tap into the passionate element of Fire. Not too comfortable in full-fledged drama.. A red accent (socks, tie,  scarf) a fun spiky shoe or a dash of bright red lipstick will do.

Need some comfort and grounding, connect to the energy of “Earth.” Nurturing is the number 1 quality of earth, supporting us through life, creating a solid foundation on which we stand. Earth is sturdy and strong yet comfy and cozy. Whether your favorite sweater or yummy throw, everything feels better when wrapped in earthy comfort. We feel safe and grounded embraced with the colors of terracotta, chocolate, ochre, khaki and warm sand. Comfy and easy dressing, boxy shapes, traditional style and accents of plaids and checks, horizontal patterns and nubby textures support this earthy element.

Feeling scattered, out of control? Metal is your element of choice. Metal brings clarity precision and focus. Clean and refined, less is more. Elegance is key, from the sound of your voice to the simplicity of your style. Silk, shimmer, polished and lux are the fabrics of choice as the “feel” is almost more important than the elegance of the style. These clean refined lines breathe an essence of confidence and control. The colors are monochromatic, whitened tints of color and of course the accents of diamond, pearl, platinum, gold, silver and refined metals. Shapes are clean and linear and curved.

Are you ready to express your free spirit, embrace your flowing essence? Do your best ideas come from your daydreams? You are the spirit of Water. Connect to your inner water with flowing style, handkerchief, asymmetrical and bias cut. Fluid and abstract, printed sheers flow over a solid base. Colors of rich turquoise, aqua, blues and blackened jewel tones. Movement is key here, restrictions do not apply! Feel the flow of the patterns, the colors and style, allowing your creativity to flow with the ease of a stream meandering along a wavy path. This reflective energy accents with shiny style, mirror palliates, beading and of course fringe to capture the movement and flow. Allow you spirituality to rise.

We have the ability to enhance or direct our energy to what is best for us on any given day. On a cloudy dark day we may choose to align with the watery element connecting to an inner energy of thinking, planning, writing – “inner doing” or light our fires with bright vibrant colors of fun and light,  “shake it up to wake it up”!  Find the expression of your inner essence which you resonate and wear it proudly for all the world to see as you shine from the inside out.

Think Green!

Green, the color of Spring, the brilliance of the sprouts just peeking out from a long long winter sleep.
I cannot help but hear Ed Sheeran singing in my ear, although a love song between two, I feel this is a metaphor for a song within myself.
“Ever Green” more powerful than “evergreen”
I can feel the ability to awaken each day, brand new, fresh and “green” filled with the essence of new beginnings, like  a sprout smiling up into the morning sun.
Can you feel YOUR Ever Green ?
Feel your emerging sprout smiling with the breath of spring.

Gung Hey Fat Choi!

Chinese New Year’s Day
I love these traditional tips, and we don’t have wait for Chinese New Year to implement, in fact if you are reading this and are saying to yourself, “Oy! I missed the date!” Erase that thought –
It is never to late to begin anew.. Doing something always feels so much better than doing nothing.

Enjoy these traditional tips for celebrating Chinese New Year’s Day and begin to incorporate the principles you resonate with into your daily life.
I have shared my thoughts below each tip, I would love to hear your ideas for each.

1.The first words we speak should be sweet and filled with love to insure each day will be such.
We can do this every morning, begin with our first thoughts before we even open our eyes..

2.The first thing we eat should be sweet, (yes ok to brush our teeth first) to ensure we will have only sweetness filling up all days of the New Year.
We can also approach this from a nourishment point of view, be sure we take care of ourselves with a healthy breakfast to begin the day filled with energy and sustainable vitality.

3.Wear new clothes; include something red, whether it is seen or unseen – it is still auspicious!
Red is an auspicious color, associated with the element fire, our passion, our inspiration, our recognition. As we connect to this energy we are confident, express from our hearts, we exude excitement, so having this element as a part of us from something we are wearing, to something in our wallet or purse, whenever we connect to this red power color, we FEEL It!

4.As all the preparation has been completed, there are no chores to be done on New Year’s Day to ensure we will not be burdened with hard work this year. We will prosper smooth and easy.
We should choose one day each week to embrace enjoying the day without the distraction of chores or burdens, and plan do what makes us feel good. If we cannot find a full day, begin with putting aside some “me time” even just for a few hours. Reflect on all that is full and joyful, planting the seeds to cultivate an infinite garden of love, peace and joy.

Sheep? Ram? Goat?

Today is Chinese New Year.. The question I am asked it the year of goat, sheep or ram?

Depending on your culture, country or form that is followed any one of these is correct.
From my perspective, The most important part of this is that each Chinese animal represents an archetype, understanding the nature paired with the elemental aspect is the heart of the information. The archetype of the sheep brings their nature of pleasing, generous and love of being in a circle of friends.. combined with the “tree element” new beginnings and emphasis on family relationships bring an opportunity for families to reunite, spending time together and cultivate love together. There will be a strong sense of humanitarianism throughout the world with the emphasis on ending suffering for all. A perfect year for creativity to flourish, look for new trends in art and fashion… embrace the energy of new beginnings!

Getting to the Part of the Matter, Partnering with your Subconscious

My journey for healing has brought me to places I have never imagined, taught me things I had no idea would be so integral in my life. I think back to where I was a few years ago and notice where I am today, excited about where I may be going next.

My journey began with Reiki, Universal Energy, learning the method of moving energy through my body, allowing me to be in the moment, one moment at a time. Next stop: Feng Shui, connecting to the energy of my environment and noticing the impact on my body, from the inside out. Learning how we can create the experience we choose in our space, allowing our subconscious to connect to the thoughts, the feelings we desire, understanding the messages our subconscious is sending us based on the experience, the patterns we create.

Moving on to dowsing, collecting information by connecting energetically to the environment, to people, using specific method and intention.  Learning about changing our relationship to thoughts and feelings, learning it is possible to change patterns, whether lifelong or new.

All of these modalities creating my method, to partner with the subconscious.  Developing my guided clearing meditation sessions, I find I incorporate all of these tools, providing simple methods all can use to begin opening their awareness. When I refer to how Feng Shui can help us change our patterns, I say, “you can set your space and then forget it, because your subconscious will get the message before you are even consciously aware.” How cool is that! Connecting directly to your subconscious – yes, we have a direct line! But sometimes we need some extra support to help let go of old patterns that are creating behaviors we choose to change; it is helpful when we can go directly to the inception of that pattern. Next stop: Parts Therapy, simply stated this is a method of hypnosis that speaks to the part of the person that is sustaining a behavior they would like to change. We are made up of many many parts, each part has a job it that it does for us. There is a part that makes us happy, a part that makes us sad, a part that helps us learn, a part that motivates us, a part that makes us curious, and so on, and so on. Our subconscious does not decide to do something because it is right or wrong, it only follows direction based on patterns that have been created. Sometimes there is a behavior created when we have a traumatic or  impactful experience, the subconscious shows up to see what job it can do serve us. It may express in ways that do not always serve us well for long-term; such as keeping us from driving on a highway after an accident.  When we consciously decide we want to change a pattern, a habit, a behavior, a part of ourselves, Parts Therapy is the perfect method to get us there.  We can give that “part” new directions, new tasks to do to replace the job it is currently doing. Imagine having a direct line to your subconscious to support your desired changes. The beauty of this method is the person receiving the parts therapy is in control of the process. The client chooses the specific “part” they would like to change, the client decides the new “jobs” they would like to assign to this “part” to replace the current job, the therapist is there to guide. This form of therapy is very successful for creating change in behaviors: clearing phobias such as driving, flying, elevators and public speaking or performance enhancement for sports, test taking, and changing habits such as eating behaviors, smoking cessation, nail biting, and releasing anxieties, to name a few.  If there is a part that seeks desired to change, including enhancements to the quality of life such as healthy life styles, focus and clarity, this is the method. The results can be seen in a relatively short amount of time, depending on the issue.

If you find that you are interested to know if Parts Therapy can help you become partners with your subconscious, I would love to hear from you.

In the meantime, as I always advise, create your fabulous firsts: the first thing you see when you wake in the morning, the first thing you see when you enter your home, the first thing you see sitting at your desk or sitting in your favorite chair should be things that create the feelings that you desire. The perfect way to get started, partnering with your subconscious.
